Many Iraqis live in Jordan as visitors, not refugees. Therefore, they do not have a camp, and they have to rent their houses, which is the one of most difficult things for them. Because of they are just visitors, they are not allowed to work and frequently face harassment.

One such person is Basil. He was arrested two days ago near his workplace for working illegally. Many youth do not receive cash assistance from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) have been faced to work. Even those who receive cash assistance the amount cannot survive without working illegally, as the amount of the cash assistance is too little.

Basil was released the same day, then he was arrested the next day. He is now in jail.

Basil is a very educated man. Since he has come to Jordan, he could only find work as a waiter.
